BEIJING, 4 May,2010—Peking University, the National Working Committee on Children and Women under the State Council (NWCCW), and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA China) today released preliminary findings of China’s first national survey on youth access and utilization of sexual and reproductive health services. The survey sample represented the country’s 164 million unmarried youth aged between 15 and 24 in 2009.

There are over 600 million girls in the world today, more than 500 million of them in developing countries. They are shaping humanity’s present and future. The opportunities and choices girls have during adolescence will enable them to begin adulthood as empowered, active citizens.

With the right skills and opportunities, they can invest in themselves, in their families and their communities.  However, pregnancy jeopardizes the rights, health, education and potential of far too many adolescent girls, robbing them of a better future.

A significant boost for the Philippines' Reproductive Health Law

The Executive Order number 12 issued by Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte supporting the full implementation of the Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health (RPRH) Law is a major push for the government’s family planning programme, which has been hindered by various challenges to the implementation of the landmark law.

The United Nations Population Fund, UNFPA, remains fully committed to supporting the government and civil society partners on this effort.

UNFPA Asia-Pacific 2017 Regional Planning Meeting

The UNFPA Asia-Pacific Regional Office will hold its annual Planning Meeting in Bangkok from January 17 through 19, bringing together colleagues from UNFPA Headquarters in New York, UNFPA Country Office Representatives from 22 countries and the Pacific Sub-Regional Office and UNFPA Asia-Pacific staff. 

The 2017 Planning Meeting will discuss UNFPA's new Strategic Plan and help finalize the Asia-Pacific Regional Plan for the next programme cycle beginning 2018.
