Statement by UNFPA Executive Director, Dr. Babatunde Osotimehin,

The National Population and Family Planning Board (BKKBN) and UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, have collaborated to conduct Training on Developing Strategic Partnership with Faith-Based Organization (FBOs) and Religious Leaders on Population, Family Planning, Reproductive Health and Gender Programmes.

The Bi-National Annual Meeting on SSC between Indonesia and the Philippines was organized jointly by BKKBN and UNFPA Indonesia and was attended by eight Filipino and twelve Indonesian participants. Dr. Juan Antonio Perez III, Executive Director of Population Commision, headed the delegation from the Philippines and the Indonesian delegation was led by Prof Dr. Fasli Jalal, Chairperson of BKKBN.

UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Indonesia, and Yayasan Kusuma Buana (YKB) have conducted the second annual seminar to commemorate the late Dr. Firman Lubis and award the inaugural Firman Lubis Memorial Award to three young medical students who have the potential to continue his legacy in the field of reproductive health in Indonesia.

UNFPA and the Government of Indonesia have built a strong foundation for their work together over the coming two years with the development of Project Documents and Annual Work Plans 2014-2015 involving all implementing partners
