Support women and girls in Turkiye affected by the earthquakes. UNFPA is deeply concerned about continued needs for women and girls, without safe homes.

One year after the earthquakes that struck Türkiye in February 2023, millions of people still need support to recover from its devastating impacts. More than 760,000 individuals are reported living in temporary settlements across 6 provinces, almost half of whom live in informal settlements. One year following the earthquakes, the health and protection infrastructure in the affected provinces remains below pre-disaster capacity. Women and girls, including an estimated 64,000 pregnant women, are struggling to access life-saving sexual and reproductive health care, including menstrual hygiene products.

Efforts in menstrual hygiene management for women and girls; psychosocial support, health and protection assistance to the most vulnerable groups including women, young people, persons with disabilities are required to improve the current living conditions.

Working with public authorities, UNFPA’s priority is to support national recovery and resilience efforts with reproductive health services, including maternal health care and services for gender-based violence prevention and response.

But we urgently need your help today to reach more women and girls with needed health and protection services in the earthquake affected region.
