Analysis of Preschool to Secondary Education Curriculum and Textbooks in the Context of Comprehensive Sexual Health Education

Publication

'International Technical Guidance on Sexuality Education', first published by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2009 and revised in 2018; A structured learning process with a positive perspective on sexuality and relationships is recommended, taking into account the benefit of young people. In order to achieve this, the learning objectives of age-appropriate comprehensive sexuality education in the Technical Guide are; are given by classifying them under eight basic concepts that are equally important, reinforce each other and are intended to be taught together. These basic concepts are (1) Relationships, (2) Values, rights, culture and sexuality, (3) Understanding gender, (4) Violence and protection from violence, (5) Health and well-being skills, (6) The human body and development, (7) Sexuality and sexual behavior, (8) Sexual health and reproductive health.

Menstrual Hygiene Management Among Refugee Women and Girls in Türkiye Research Report

Situation Report

Every day, 800 million women and girls between the ages of 15-49 in the world menstruate. On average, a woman menstruates for seven years of her life. Although menstruation is a natural and healthy process for women and girls of reproductive age, the lives of women and girls are negatively affected by menstruation. This is a serious problem, especially for vulnerable groups. Menstrual hygiene products, which cannot be accessed especially because they are very expensive, are of vital importance for women and girls. The report prepared by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) with the support of the Embassy of Sweden, SIDA reveals the details of this phenomenon called "period poverty".

With the increasing use of internet and the development of technological tools, the phenomenon of violence gains new dimensions. In this context, in addition to their functions of increasing socialization and communication with their many practical features that facilitate daily life for users, digital technologies and online environments might also appear as problematic areas in which individuals and/or groups inflict violence on each other. This study has been prepared in scope of the Struggle Against Digital Violence Project implemented by Common Knowledge and Communication Association (CKCA) with the financial support of UNFPA Turkey, aiming to revealing the situation in Turkey regarding this new type of violence known as digital violence.
