A key minister in the administration of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has argued that there is a close link between family planning and economic progress, an issue that has recently become the subject of national and global attention.

Bangkok. A new report from UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, finds that more of the nearly one billion young people between 15 and 24 in the Asia and Pacific region are having sex before marriage than ever before, yet many face a dangerous dearth of information on sexual and reproductive health, and lack the critical life-skills needed to manage safe, consensual sexual relationships.
