2020 has been an extraordinary year, with the emergence of a global pandemic caused by the highly infectious COVID-19 virus. While everything we used to know as “normal” has been changed in this process, one of the areas which have been affected by these changes has been survey research. Given that survey method, especially face-to-face surveys, is one of the top methods used to answer several questions in a wide range of areas, this process has also shown the importance of this method. This report has been prepared to analyze the pandemic’s effect on survey research and the related developments in the field focusing on the period between the beginning of the pandemic and December 2020 through the reviews of several survey organizations’ websites and expert interviews. Presenting an overview of issues ranging from international survey programs to innovations in data collection during the pandemic and related ethical issues, this report aims to enhance the understanding of the pandemic's effects on survey research and its future implications.
