Ayna Seyitliyeva

Ms. Ayna Seyitliyeva joined UNFPA Iran in February 2024 in the capacity of International Programme Coordinator and will act as the Officer in Charge (OIC) until the arrival of the new Representative. In her last assignment, she worked for nearly five years as the Head of Office in UNFPA Turkmenistan carrying programme and management functions, working closely with the government and UNCT, as well as international development partners.

UNFPA celebrates its 50th Anniversary in Turkey

Having touched the lives of hundreds of thousands of people with works in areas including human rights, gender equality, sexual and reproductive health and rights and continuing to work for women, girls and the most vulnerable groups to have more equal, healthier and safer lives to leave no one behind, UNFPA celebrates its 50th anniversary in Turkey. 

UNFPA Turkey celebrates its 50th year in Turkey with a big event themed Butterfly Effect on the 3rd of November in Ankara. The event will also be broadcasted live on the UNFPA YouTube channel.

Sennen Hounton

A medical doctor by training, Mr. Hounton brings more than 20 years’ experience in strategic foresight, leadership and management at country, regional and global levels in demographic dividend, resilient health systems, and prevention of conflicts.  With a strong humanitarian and development background, Mr Hounton is an expert of the West and Central Africa region where he has demonstrated his ability to navigate the socio-political complexities of multiple and intersecting crises, as well as advocating for the centrality of populations and girls’ human capital for the Sustainable Development Goals. He has a strong record of forging broad-based partnerships that deliver results for women, girls and young people.

Bruce Campbell

Bruce Campbell, has recently joined UNFPA as Representative a.i. for Timor Leste. Prior to this position, Bruce’s long public health career began in the humanitarian sector where he worked for the International Rescue Committee supporting Palestinian and Afghan refugees in Lebanon and Pakistan.

Healing lives through support and hope

Since the beginning of the Syrian conflict in 2011, almost 13,5 million Syrian have been forcibly displaced, more than 6,5 million of whom had to flee their home country in search of safety. Over 200,000 civilians lost their lives, and many were exposed to or still live under the risk of violence. One of the most common forms of violence in conflicts is sexual violence, which is a human rights violation and a public health issue.

The Country Director for Georgia is Ms. Mariam A. Khan, UNFPA representative in Turkey. 

Head of Office

Ms. Mariam Bandzeladze has been appointed UNFPA Head of Office in Georgia in March 2024. She has worked for UNFPA Georgia for more than 12 years, leading its comprehensive portfolio of gender equality as well as the policy dialogue on human rights issues with the UN, government, and development partners since 2012. Before joining UNFPA, trained as an international lawyer, Mariam has worked on progressively increasing managerial positions in the private sector and the development field for more than 15 years.
