ANKARA (9 August 2017) - Hacettepe University Women’s Research and Implementation Center (HÜKSAM) organized a distribution of UNFPA Family Hygiene kits to approximately 1,500 mainly Syrian and Iraqi refugee families in Ankara.

Thanks to the support of health mediators who are acting as bridges between WGSS centers and the refugee population in the area, HÜKSAM was able to reach out the refugee communities in the area to hand out the UNFPA Family Hygiene Kits.

Due to the high demand, the distribution event was done in a corporation with a security firm which provided a safe, smooth and orderly distribution. HÜKSAM personnel kept some of the UNFPA Hygiene Kits in stock in case some families in need missed the distribution day.

Hacettepe University Women’s Research and Implementation Center (HÜKSAM) is coordinating three UNFPA Women and Girls Safe Space (WGSS) centers in Ankara which operate within the Ministry of Health’s Migrant Health Centers. The WGSS centers in Yenimahalle, Alemdag and Gulveren are funded by European Comision’s European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO).
