The State of the World's Midwifery 2021
The State of the World’s Midwifery (SoWMy) 2021 builds on previous reports in the SoWMy series and represents an unprecedented effort to document the whole world’s Sexual, Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Adolescent Health (SRMNAH) workforce, with a particular focus on midwives. It calls for urgent investment in midwives to enable them to fulfil their potential to contribute towards UHC and the SDG agenda.
UNFPA 2021 State of World Population Report
Nearly half of women in 57 developing countries are denied the right to decide whether to have sex with their partners, use contraception or seek health care, according to UNFPA's 2021 flagship State of World Population report. Through this groundbreaking report, UNFPA is measuring both women’s power to make their own decisions about their bodies and the extent to which countries’ laws support or interfere with a woman’s right to make these decisions. The data show a strong link between decision-making power and higher levels of education. Real solutions, the report finds, must take into account the needs and experiences of those affected.
2021 UNFPA World Population Report Highlights
Nearly half of all women are denied their bodily autonomy, says UNFPA's 2021 flagship State of World Population report. For the first time, a United Nations report focuses on bodily autonomy: the power and agency to make choices about your body, without fear of violence or having someone else decide for you. This lack of bodily autonomy has massive implications beyond the profound harms to individual women and girls: potentially depressing economic productivity, undercutting skills, and resulting in extra costs to health care and judicial systems. 2021 UNFPA World Population Report elaborates on these issues and more to raise awareness and increase visibility of all person’s right to bodily autonomy and self-determination.
Working Life and Domestic Violence in the Pandemic Period
The “Working Life and Domestic Violence in the Pandemic Period” report has been conducted by the Sabancı University Corporate Governance Forum of Turkey (SUCGF) with the support of United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and Sabancı Foundation, and with the cooperation of Turkish Industry and Business Association (TUSIAD). The report reveals the domestic violence patterns among the working people during the pandemic. The report aims to analyze the role of businesses that adopt and implement gender equality policies in the prevention of violence against women. In the light of the collected data and the resulting analyses, the report provides recommendations for the businesses to prevent women from being negatively affected by the remote working process and support gender equality in the workplace.
The Research on Specialized Needs of Women Health Workers in the COVID-19 Pandemic
The Research on Specialized Needs of Female Health Workers in the COVID-19 Pandemic conducted by the United Nations Population Fund, UNFPA Turkey and Hacettepe University Women's Research and Implementation Center (HUWRIC) has been released. The research draws attention to the experiences and needs of women health workers, which constitute 70% of the health workers globally, during the pandemic.

Surveys in COVID-19 and Post COVID-19 Days
2020 has been an extraordinary year, with the emergence of a global pandemic caused by the highly infectious COVID-19 virus. While everything we used to know as “normal” has been changed in this process, one of the areas which have been affected by these changes has been survey research. Given that survey method, especially face-to-face surveys, is one of the top methods used to answer several questions in a wide range of areas, this process has also shown the importance of this method. This report has been prepared to analyze the pandemic’s effect on survey research and the related developments in the field focusing on the period between the beginning of the pandemic and December 2020. through the reviews of several survey organizations’ websites and expert interviews. Presenting an overview of issues ranging from international survey programs to innovations in data collection during the pandemic and related ethical issues, this report aims to enhance the understanding of the pandemic's effects on survey research and its future implications.
Young People's Well-Being During COVID-19
"Determination of Young People’s Well-Being During the COVID-19 Pandemic" which was conducted by the Youth Approaches to Health Association (Y-PEER Turkey) with the financial and technical support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has been published. The study aims to reveal the status of youth concerning the variables of education, employment, access to comprehensive sexual health information, access to reproductive health services and their well-being for the purpose of protecting the well-being of young people. The report determines the problems, needs and expectations of young people during the pandemic process by making comparisons according to their views and experiences before the pandemic in line with demographic variables such as age, gender, educational status, and place of residence.
November Dialogues 2020: Adolescence in times of Pandemic
The "November Dialogues" event traditionally organized by Turkey Family Health and Planning Foundation (TAPV) has been realized with the team of "Adolescence in Times of Pandemic”. Having been held since 2017 by the joint efforts of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and Turkey Family Health and Planning Foundation (TAPV), these diologue series which have been organized in İstanbul and Ankara with focus on"Adolescent Health" aimed to increase awareness and information exchange on adolescent development and health. As the November Dialogues 2020 has been realized in an environment where education system as well as needs and priorities of students have changed due to the pandemic, the event also aimed to inform teachers and parents about needs specific to this period and strengthen communcation and dialogue between student consultants and students.
Child, Early and Forced Marriage in Turkey
The “Child, Early and Forced Marriage in Turkey: Data Analysis of Turkey Demographic and Health Surveys 1993-2018” report prepared by the United Nations Population Fund, UNFPA Turkey, in cooperation with Hacettepe University Institute of Population Studies was released. The report aims to shed light on the last 25 years of child marriage and provide a guidance for progammes and advocacy activities against child marriages.
